Our Co-op Program

Our Co-op ProgramThe Research and Evaluation Department values the exchange of knowledge and continuous support offered as part of a student's co-op program. In a safe, open, and inclusive environment, co-op students acquire and develop strong skills and gain valuable experience. Co-op students are guided by and learn from our team of researchers, allowing the students to cultivate and develop research and professional skills for their work at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ and for the future. Co-op students receive paid work experience where students contribute to meaningful research that supports our learners and school district community, which not only builds upon their professional skills but builds up their resume!

As a member of the Research and Evaluation Department, co-op students develop and create data collection tools such as surveys, focus group protocols, and practitioner reflection tools to support the district’s evaluation of programs and initiatives. Using various tools and methodologies, co-op students analyze qualitative and quantitative data. Co-op students produce knowledge exchange and translation materials including reports, infographics, presentations, and videos which are used to inform future planning and district decision making.

Surrey School District’s award-winning Research and Evaluation Department partners with post-secondary co-op students from various disciplines. We welcome students with a broad range of academic backgrounds and who attend any post-secondary institution in the Lower Mainland.

Our department receives applications from university co-op programs on an as-needed basis. We hire three students at a time who are able to join as Research Analysts and Data Visualizers for two consecutive semesters. If you’re interested in joining the Research and Evaluation Department, please inquire with your university’s co-op program on how you can apply. If our department is not listed as a co-op destination, it is because we currently have filled the roles for the upcoming semester.
