Goals:

• Literacy and Numeracy generally
• Two year focus on written and oral skills
• Year 1 expository writing and increasing general knowledge

Accomplishments and Initiatives:

• Recently completed 3 year implementaion of new Ministry of Education Numeracy Curriculum
• Continue focus on Guided Reading and Bookend Assessments for reading for meaning (inferential and general knowledge skills)
• Strong athletics: basketball, badminton, tennis table, ultimate Frisbee, track & field, cross country and soccer
• Diversity Committee supports events for educational growth around understanding cultural differences
• Music and fine arts extras include the school choir who perform at district and school events, a school guitar club and opportunities throughout the year to act, sing and MC
• Student Council provides opportunities for student leadership
• Senior students "Buddy" with younger students to be mentors
